The Art of Fielding

This was such a wonderfully odd book.

It reminded me of a John Irving novel for the middle-class Midwest, artfully capturing that feeling you get when you realize that you aren't "right" (in all the implications of the word) and that your intentions aren't even clear to you.
Still, it is touching book, like getting hit in the head during a pillow fight, taking a blow that doesn't hurt on contact but is strong enough to knock you over.

4 out of 5 stars.
