An In-Be-Tweener is anyone who was in the 4th or 5th grade during the 2009-2010 school year. This Summer Library Program is for 4th and 5th graders to encourage them to be part of the program and bring back their love of books.

Reading Program: Participants will need to read a total of ten books.

Special Events: Participants will need to attend at least four special events held in the Children's Department, or be a Summer Volunteer. Special events are listed on the summer calendar available in the children’s department (and via the link above), and are also listed here.

Summer Library Program Log: Each participant will be given a log that will track his or her participation. Book lists may also be turned in on-line by clicking here. When the required numbers of books (10) are read the participant will receive their coupons from sponsors and be able to turn their log in for special prizes. The prizes will be awarded at the ending party.

Monday, May 24, is the first day to turn in reading charts. The final day to turn in reading charts is Thursday, July 29.

Ending Party

The ending party for the In-Be-Tweens will be a water-fight & snacks party held Tuesday, July 27, at 2:00 pm. This party is by invitation only for In-Be-Tweens that participate in the reading program.

Summer Volunteers

To be a volunteer during the summer you must have completed 4th grade. You will need to fill out a volunteer form, have it signed by your parents, and turn it in at the Children's Department desk. The forms are available in the Children's Department, or you may download a printable version here (requires Adobe Reader).

We will have an orientation meeting on Friday, May 21 at 2:00 pm in the Children’s Department. We will discuss schedules, job duties and rules. T-shirts are available for all volunteers.

A volunteer recognition party will be held on Thursday, July 29, from 5:30-7:30pm at Wilson Pool. Swimming, pizza, and drinks are on the menu.
