Hi and welcome to the Hays Public Library's Parts of a Picture Book library skills page. Libraries can sometimes be confusing places, and we'd like to help you navigate the tricky waters. In this series of videos Assistant Youth Services Librarian Scott and Librarian Assistant Vanessa, along with a few friends, will help introduce you to the parts of a picture book. This lesson is suitable for 2nd and 3rd graders, and is general enough to be used in local school libraries and media centers. In order to access the quizzes at the end of the videos, make sure the annotations are on. To turn them on make sure your video is playing, and look for the speech bubble. If that is red, then you are ready to go. If not, click it once, and it should turn red. Not all videos in this series use the annotations function. Only the second and third videos below have quizzes which take you off this page to YouTube. If you have any questions, contact Scott at 785-625-5916 or email him at srader@hayspublib.org. Thanks and have fun! This first video introduces the others! This video introduces you to the outside of a book. This video introduces you to the inside of a book. One last video. It gives you contact information, plus the titles and authors of books used in this series. If you're ready to test your skills click here. Not ready? Go back to the videos, or look through a book.
